New bloggggg! :)

The main purpose of our game is to show young people how the decisions we make now can effect us later in life. It's a lot harder than it seems to not make a game a quiz game. We will do our best to fix our game so there is nothing that resembles a quiz game. Even though we have had a lot of snow days, we have gotten a lot done. We've finished our prototype and it has been uploaded to viddler and then onto the wiki and also our blogs. :)

The Redneck Senioritas have been very busy recently. Last week, we had a substitute teacher and it was quite interesting.. She cut her hair on Mrs. Leef's desk..yeah! For real!! & she argued a bit with a few of the boys about politics and countries.. it was strange. On a good note- we managed to finish our bunny game. Yay! :)

Hey guys, we have started working on a bunny game on Flash this week. I have had to guide Bryanna and Kristen because they are new at this! We have been trying to get it all figured out but it's a little difficult. Right now we are working on the wolf and how he is going to move! Well I will keep you posted on the game!

Check List

Today, we are breaking up in partners and going over a check list to make sure that we have accomplished everything. T-Hutz is my partner.. yaya!! I think that everybody has a lot to catch up on.. better get to work! :))

The Redneck Senioritas

Last week, we had to create our team names. Kristen, Bryanna, and I decided that our name was going to be "Redneck Senioritas" and I have to say that I think it's pretty great! Did you catch the "senior" part in the name?! pretty cool! ;)

Playing to Learn

Today, we are going through the list of suggested games. It's pretty obvious by what is heard throughout the room that "Drift Runners" is the favorite. Im not very good at video games so I gave up on that one, actually im not having much luck on any of these... I'll keep trying. :)

Off to a great start ;)

We have got off to a great start. So far, we have taken the Globaloria Survey and watched a Globaloria Video. We have created a few new things such as, a wiki user account, a blog account, and a gmail account. We've learned how to update our profiles and learning logs, linking blogs to the GWHS wiki, uploading files to the wiki, and adding avatars. I ofcourse had it easy this time because I went through this last year.

It's Friday in Gobaloria....

Congratulations to our boys last night for a kick-butt win! Considering most of us were at the game, we didn't get home until way, way, way past our bed times. Even though we are all very tired, I must say that we are being very productive. Tanner has his pants folded up above his knees (he's having khaki short withdrawals)...Bryanna has yellow fuzz all over her shirt...Corey has his shoes off---peee-uuu! (just kidding bud)...Droobie is dressed up in his camoflauge... & last, but most definitely not least.... Bryanna, Kristen, and I are jammin' to "In the air tonight" by the wonderfully talented Phil Collins. It's a great day! ;)

Why it is great to be a SENIOR! ;)

Being a Senior is pretty great. We are given several special privileges. Not only do we get out for lunch two minutes earlier than everybody else, we get to jump to the front of the line. Being the upper classman, we have a responsibility to lead by example. This means that we should set a good example for the rest of the school. I am really looking forward to my Senior year of high school. It's going to be a blast!! :)

finishing up

it has literally been toooo long since i have blogged on here. So, here's the latest news... i tried to put a colon, but im having keyboard difficulties..anyway, last week we had our game presentations, they went well..other than the fact that E.J and I could not succeed in getting the penguin game to work like we wanted it to...[sad face]... Today, we are uploading the lastest version of our game to the STEM site and to our game gallery on the wiki.

Friday is finally here. The westest is finally over with, thank goodness! We have not been in class very much, due to the testing schedule..I am still working on the same thing;; helicopter saving penguins..I believe that games are due next week, so i've really got to get to work..that's all for now.

School is very confusing this week...with testing going on, our schedule is very strange...So while I have the opportunity, I am going to work on the game as much as I can. I am currently working on the helicopter picking up the penguins..and the trivia quiz..

Today, I believe I will work on the trivia quiz for the our game...I will also work on the actionscript for the penguin game...I also need to figure out how I will explain the penguin part, and how it is associated with the rest of the game. I have lots to do...so, I better get to it then...

Today, I believe that we will be giving mini presentations. Here is the problem: I wasn't here on Monday; We didn't have school on Tuesday; On Wednesday, I was not in this class because I had to take an AP English exam..Yesterday, I updated my blog and learning log... I am way behind...and I am way embarrassed as to how lazy I look for having nothing to show for the past week. =\

13th

Today is the first day that I have been in this class all week. Everyday, I have had something going on...so, needless to say I have a lot to catch up on.. Short term memory loss!! I don't exactly remember where I left off...uh oh! wait wait: Okay! found it! I am finishing up the final background for the penguins, and am going to be incorporating some actionscript.

Busy Bee

Wow, this week is going to be super busy! Prom is this Saturday, and of course I am freaking out. There are so many things that i have to do this week, it's unbelievable. Our games are due soon, and I am trying my best to finish my part. I am completely clueless about actionscript, so I will be asking E.J and Sheena for some help.

Not to be negative, but I am so glad that this school week will soon be over. Thank goodness it's Friday! =] I'm so ready a weekend full of fun times, and relaxation. On Monday, I will crack down on the work once again. For now, I'm going to experiment a little bit with flash and see what I can do..fun fun! E.J.- you're my partner in crime, and you're awesome! happy happy happy!

I am happy with the progress that I have made this week. I made the water look like it is boiling and moving, i finished the helicopter, and i am currently working on the penguins moving around on the one piece of ice that hasn't melted...it's still a work in progress...but definately going along well. =] EJ is awesome at coding, so hopefully he can teach me his mad skills..Sheena is working on the house part, from what she has showed me, it is coming along wonderfully! I'm lucky to be on a team with such talented team members, I know that they will teach me a lot!

boiling water

So, I finished making the helicopter and moved on to making the background for the penguin game. I'm having a few problems with the screen being too big but other than that, it's good. Im making the background have boiling water, so that will be very cool.. If only I had the mad skills like Napoleon Dynamite to pull off such a thing!

TGIF!!

Today, Im working on a helicopter for part of the penguin game. It's not as difficult as I thought it was going to be. The good thing is that I can just get a picture off of the web and make some seriously big changes...I'm good at that, but that's about it. That's all I have to say for now.

Okay, so I am finally getting somewhere. Taking baby steps, but definately getting somewhere. I made a page for "Save the Penguins"....it looks pretty good, the only problem is that on our team wiki, it showed up different than the rest. I purposely went outside of the stage, making it easier for me..that's how I've done all of the other ones, so I don't understand why it is like that......Im not good at explaining things, but Im not sure how to tell it any other way...so if you can help, PLEASE let me know! this one is at the bottom of the Team SEE wiki page.

Accomplishment

I am so excited! I finally accomplished something! I made a killer title page, if I do say myself...=] It's pretty! the only thing that I don't like about it is that I made it too wide so the entire thing doesn't show up on the wiki page...BUMMER! It's uploaded to our team page..{Team SEE} go check it out!!.......it's at the bottom of the page, but look at the other things that my team mates and I have accomplished so far. E.J and I were talking about revising it and making the piece of coal turn into a lit up light bulb when you scroll over it. I'm going to work on that now.... so stay tuned for the new and improved awesome title page.

Unstoppable!

Unstoppable, yes that would be our Globaloria class. This word applies to many things. In fact, it is a title of a song that I heard this morning on CMT and i thought....."wow! this song is great!! the lyrics are nice, and the tune is catchy! it would be perfect for our LSIC video!" Yes, I was talking to myself.....but know one will know, well actually you all know now! oops.
Anyways, we are in crunch time with our games now, I have been keeping up with everything pretty well, we all have. It's great! We are "Unstoppable!"

So,
This past week, we have been working on a video. We are making a video for the LSIC meeting, which is in a few weeks. We film in different classrooms to show how hard our students work in a variety of subjects. While filming the students, the will hold up signs that say something about what they are learning. As I say all of the time, I'm not good at explaining things. But I can assure you that this video is going to be sooo awesome! It will be so modern and fun, like one that should be on tv. =] We're going to blow them away! I can't wait to see the finished product!

So, I am back at the great academy for genuises today. I'm currently finishing up my powerpoint. There's just one little problem.....it won't save! Mrs. Neal told us to save it as a "Powerpoint Presentation," so I try to, and just my luck...it will not save, it keeps saying that there is not enough room on the disk.. How aggravating! I'm starting this day of well.. GEEZ!

As much as I like having snow days, it literally started to drive me insane. After watching it dump down for several days straight, I ended up with a severe case of...............CABIN FEVER! ( I almost ate off my own limbs! ) I guess too much of a good thing is well bad..hehe luckily, my disease has gone away..since you know--we have school today! =] I have heard that there is another snow storm coming around Monday, and that this time, it will be measured in feet, not inches. =[ so my CABIN FEVER! may come back........ahh!

Favorite Game

Question: What is your favorite game and why, then follow up with how your game is going to be incorporating those components

Answer:
I know that this sounds kind of weird, but my favorite game is Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. It’s actually my Dad’s computer game, and one day during the Summer, when I was about 12 years old, I became interested, and decided to sit down, and play it. This game got pretty addicting. Being as girly as it gets, my friends are always surprised that I even know what this game is, and think that it’s a little strange that I play it all of the time. I’m not really sure why I like this game, it could be that it’s generally a male type of game, and I was curious, or it could be that I enjoy doing things out of my character.
Considering that Medal of Honor is a war game that involves shooting, killing, and blowing up things, it’s not really appropriate for Globaloria. The only thing that I would like to incorporate into our game would be a task bar. On Medal of Honor, there is a task bar that you can click and it shows you what tasks you must complete to finish your mission successfully. I think that it would be a nice accessory to our game. =]

Back to school after a 3 week break, glad the first day is over, on day number 2 now, and its alot better! Today, the guys are working on the cell phone video, and i am "observing". Ha, really I am updating everything.
This snow is coming down pretty hard out there...YES! That's all i can really think about. =p
